On 2 and 3 October, the DIM 2024 conference focused on urban transport infrastructure and smart solutions. The main objective of the event was to exchange experiences in solving the growing transport problems of cities and municipalities. Participating experts discussed options for sustainable development that would take into account the increasing demands on transport while minimising the negative impact on the environment and residents.
The conference addressed current challenges in the field of transport infrastructure, particularly in relation to changes in the migration patterns of the population. Particular attention was paid to parking policy and its impact on transport relations, as well as the opportunities and risks of using alternative drives.
The conference also included a discussion forum with representatives of the Slovak Ministry of Transport and municipalities, which provided a space for an open exchange of views. In separate sessions, experts discussed new standards in road design, parking policy and the possibilities of using modern technologies in transport. An interesting point of the programme was the session on ‘Sustainable Urban Development’, which featured experts from Slovakia and abroad.
On behalf of the University Science Park UNIZA, Karol Hrudkay presented the EnCLOD project and his paper ‘Deployment of sensor networks within the EnCLOD project’, in which he focused on the pilot deployment of sensor networks, describing their objectives and current status.
