UNIZA students explored the Smart City in the University Science Park

On 3 and 6 March 2025, we had the honour to welcome two groups of students from the Faculty of Transport and Communications Operations and Economics of UNIZA in the University Science Park. These excursions took place within the subject Smart City .

We presented our work to almost four dozen students not only in the form of an engaging presentation, but also with a practical demonstration of the deployment of sensors in a real outdoor environment.

Our projects, especially Clevernet and EnCLOD, are closely related to Smart City topics. For this reason, we have focused on the unique urban living laboratory in Žilina, which was initially built by the Clevernet project and today is further expanded and developed through the NXLVL Parking and EnCLOD projects.

Presentations and discussions touched not only on key topics that are part of the urban living lab – such as transport and climate, but also on broader activities that are directed towards the often neglected pillar of Smart City – Smart Governance. This approach focuses on data-driven governance.

Finally, discussions focused on technical issues related to the use of data and its potential for student projects.
